Care & Maintenance Guide

Olive Wood & Stoneware

At GEVANTO, we select noble and durable materials for your everyday objects. To preserve their beauty and functionality, here are our care tips for olive wood and stoneware.

Olive Wood

Usage

  • Cutting boards & utensils: Ideal for food use, resistant to knives.

  • Serving trays & decorative items: Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or direct heat (sun, radiators).

  • Bathroom accessories: Dry thoroughly after each use to prevent mold.

Cleaning

  1. Washing: Use lukewarm water and mild soap. Avoid dishwashers.

  2. Drying: Wipe immediately with a dry cloth to prevent wood swelling.

  3. Occasional disinfection: Use diluted white vinegar, then rinse quickly.

Maintenance

  • Oiling: Apply a thin layer of food-grade oil (olive oil, linseed oil) 2-3 times a year to nourish the wood and prevent cracks.

  • Storage: Keep in a dry place, away from extreme heat sources.

Stoneware

Usage

  • Dishes (bowls, plates, mugs): Oven and microwave-safe

  • Storage jars: Perfect for dry or liquid foods.

  • Decorative items & vases: Avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g., pouring boiling water into a cold vase).

Cleaning

  1. Washing: Hand wash with a soft sponge and mild soap. Some pieces are dishwasher-safe.

  2. Stubborn stains: Use a baking soda paste, then rinse thoroughly.

  3. Limescale buildup: Clean with diluted white vinegar, then rinse.

Maintenance

  • Avoid impacts: Stoneware is durable but may crack if dropped or thermique chocks

  • Storage: Stack carefully with a cloth between items to prevent scratches.

General Tips

  • Do not soak wood (risk of warping) or porous stoneware (risk of absorption).

  • Keep away from direct heat (oven, stovetop) unless otherwise specified.

By following these guidelines, your GEVANTO items will maintain their beauty and functionality for years to come.
